SCL

We are dedicated parents / partners who believe when parents have access to the knowledge and tools they need to effectively support their children's education their children will be successful throughout their education and in life.  As a result, parents will become engaged and intentional in expecting and supporting quality education for their children in ways that result in improved student outcomes and school improvement.
 What Are Our Goals?
The goal of the Hartford Parent University is to increase parent involvement in the schools and empower parents to raise children who are successful in school and in life.  The objecteves of the Hartford Parent University are to: increase the capacity of families to actively and effectively support their children's education; positively impact school improvement; and improve the quality of life in Hartford's communities.

Changing Education Paradigms Sir Ken Robinson

The term student-centered learning refers to a wide variety of educational programs, learning experiences, instructional approaches, and academic-support strategies that are intended to address the distinct learningneeds, interests, aspirations, or cultural backgrounds of individual students and groups of students.
Transformation  envision an education system where learning transcends the traditional school calendar and setting. We envision a system where students progress based upon mastery of a skill or topic, rather than time spent in a classroom.

We hear often of the "high expectations" schools must have of and for their students, yet we seldom hear of the expectations students have of their schools. Students' expectations constitute the new "rules of engagement" in the relationship that young people want with their schools

Fulfil Their Potential

Ever wondered why kids say they're bored at school, or why they stop trying when the work gets harder? Educationalist Carol Dweck explains how the wrong kind of praise actually *harms* young people.
Transformational Social Change Sally R. Osberg and strategy guru Roger L. Martin set forth a bold new framework for social entrepreneurship, demonstrating how and why meaningful change actually happens in the world, and providing concrete lessons and a practical model for businesses, policymakers, civil society organisations, and individuals who seek to transform our world for good.
